W.Va. stint a low point for Robert E. Lee, author says

West Virginia wasn't so wonderful for Gen. Robert E. Lee.

He spent much of his time in the area mediating disputes betweenrival commanders with little military experience, said a notedhistorian who will be speaking locally next week.

"His time in West Virginia was probably the low point of hiscareer," said Civil War author and historian James I. Robertson Jr.,who will deliver a free public presentation on Robert E. Lee on July13 at the University of Charleston's Geary Student Union.
