NT: Cyclone watch cancelled on the west coast of Carpentaria
DARWIN, Feb 14 AAP - A cyclone watch for the west coast of the Gulf of Carpentariawas cancelled today after a tropical low pressure system moved off the Arnhem Land coast.
The watch had been in place for three days from Nhulunbuy on the Gove Peninsula tothe Northern Territory-Queensland border.
The Bureau of Meteorology feared the low would develop into a cyclone when it movedoff the coast into the gulf.
However, fears eased as it crossed over water this morning and continued tracking south-eastaway from land.
"A tropical cyclone is no longer expected to develop and gales are not expected," thebureau said.
