Qld: Catamaran free again

A tourist catamaran which ran aground on the Great Barrier Reef today has floated free
of its own accord on the high tide.

The 35-metre Reef Odyssey carrying 13 passengers and seven crew on a four-day cruise
ran aground this morning on Hardy Reef, 75km north-east of Airlie Beach in north Queensland.

A Queensland Transport spokesman says the vessel floated free of its own accord about
8.30pm (AEST) and will continue its cruise until tomorrow night.

The spokesman says there is no damage to the vessel, no one was injured and there was
no risk of pollution.

A spokeswoman for the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority which administers the
reef, says the vessel hit at low speed and damage to coral is expected to be minimal.
