Fed: Students should know about Heidelberg art school: Andrews

Immigration Minister KEVIN ANDREWS says all Australians should know about the Heidelberg
School of impressionist art.

He's made the comment while defending the new citizenship tests .. which require applicants
to correctly answer 12 out of 20 questions covering Australia's history .. government
.. values and traditions.

Mr ANDREWS says not knowing about the Heidelberg school wouldn't stop anyone getting citizenship.

But he's told Southern Cross broadcasting it's important that all Australians are aware
of its significance.

The minister's remarks have prompted host JOHN LAWS to suggest there are many people
.. who've lived in Australia for 20 years .. who wouldn't know about the Heidelberg School
.. or the development of the stump-jump plough .. which is also explained in the government's
citizenship booklet.
